A Beautiful Wedding Day in Gulfport, MS: Capturing Moments that Last a Lifetime

It was a warm fall day in Gulfport, MS, and Anna and Tate were about to begin the next chapter of their lives together. As a couple who grew up in New Orleans, LA, they brought the spirit of Louisiana to their Gulf Coast wedding—think Fleur de Lis, New Orleans Saints flags, and even an LSU-themed cake. Their big day was designed to bring a little slice of home to the Mississippi coast, in the form of a Gulfport, MS wedding.

When we first connected with Anna, one of her main requests was to capture candid moments with their beloved dog, Luna, especially as she made her way down the aisle. It was clear from our initial call that this couple valued meaningful, spontaneous photos that would reflect the love and joy of their special day.

Fast forward to our second call, and Tate joined in to discuss the details. While many couples choose a traditional firework exit, Anna had a creative idea—she wanted us to capture them sending fireworks into the sky as a unique and memorable send-off. We were excited to bring this idea to life and trusted that our vision for the day would align with their desires.

A Coastal Wedding at a Stunning Beach House

The venue? A luxurious beach house wedding on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The day ahead promised to be as beautiful as it was unique. We arrived early to photograph the wedding details, from the elegant wedding dress to the little touches that made this wedding truly theirs. Anna and her bridesmaids got ready at the beach house, while Tate and the groomsmen prepped at a nearby Airbnb. With the clock ticking, we split into two teams—MaKayla focused on the girls, and I headed to meet the guys for some quick portraits.

The benefits of having two photographers were especially clear here, as it allowed us to capture both parties in their final moments of preparation. While MaKayla spent time with the bridesmaids, I had a great time connecting with the guys and creating relaxed, natural portraits. We kept things light and efficient, making sure the guys didn’t feel rushed but still capturing those genuine moments.

Once everyone was ready, we rejoined forces to take photos of the stunning venue and décor. Every detail felt so personal—reflecting Anna and Tate’s love for Louisiana while blending seamlessly with the beauty of the Gulf Coast.

The First Look and The Ceremony

The moment Anna stepped into her wedding dress was incredibly emotional. She shared a touching first look with her dad before heading to the ceremony, and it was easy to see how much this moment meant to both of them. A father-daughter first look is always special, but this one felt even more poignant, as he would soon walk her down the aisle to Tate.

During the ceremony, the couple chose to forgo a traditional first look and instead waited to see each other as Anna made her entrance. The look on Tate’s face when he saw his bride for the first time was filled with awe—exactly the kind of genuine, candid moment we love to capture. As wedding photographers, we always aim to photograph the day as it happens, capturing real moments over posed ones. While we take family and bridal portraits, we prefer to let the day unfold naturally for 80% of the event.

Family Portraits and Special Moments

After the ceremony, we moved quickly to take family portraits, even though the midday sun was making things a bit toasty for the guests. We had a backup plan in place, which allowed us to take advantage of a cooler, shaded spot. Thanks to Anna’s foresight in preparing a short list of desired family photos and assigning someone to help gather everyone, the process went smoothly and quickly.

This allowed the couple to enjoy a little extra time together before heading into cocktail hour. One of our favorite moments is when we get to steal the couple away for some intimate, romantic portraits. This is their time to relax and soak in the excitement of the day before rejoining their friends and family.

An Unforgettable Day for an Amazing Couple

In the end, Anna and Tate’s wedding was everything they’d dreamed of and more. As wedding photographers based in Clinton, MS, we love having the chance to capture weddings in unique locations like Gulfport. Their Louisiana-inspired celebration with close family, great food, and lots of love made for a truly unforgettable day.
